LA PARADA DE LOS MONSTRUOS

EST_ART SPACE Gallery kicks off the exhibition season with “La Parada de los Monstruos” (The Monsters’ Stop), a high-voltage collective exhibition that opens on Wednesday, September 13th, 2023, at 8:00 p.m. in their industrial warehouse in Alcobendas.
The exhibition arises with the excuse of paying homage to one of the most controversial and poignant films in the history of cinema, “Freaks” (Tod Browning, 1932), translated as “The Monsters’ Stop,” an undeniable reference of counterculture. The homonymous exhibition project will take place from September to November, coinciding with the gallery opening season in Madrid.
The common thread of the exhibition will be the concept of the monster, both in its representation of the irrational, unconscious, fictitious, and imaginary, and in its condition as the complete opposite. Throughout the exhibition, we will encounter not only grotesque characters or creatures from literature or cinema but also other, perhaps more terrifying ones that we see and experience every day.
