Jorge Regueira has just joined the Est_Art family, and to celebrate it we have organized a masterclass of calligraphy, where he shows us his tools, many of them manufactured by himself.

The masterclass will begin with a talk given by Jorge Regueira, in which he will describe the different instruments he uses to create his work: comparison of materials, strokes and effects achieved with each one.

After the first theoretical part, we will give way to the demo phase, where the author will show the attendees in practice what was explained in the first phase, opening a round of questions and consultations.

Afterwards, the attendees will be given the opportunity to test themselves and discover their calligraphic skills.

Once the talk and demonstration is over, a wine will be offered.

Jorge Regueira - Audacious calligrapher who investigates and elaborates his own instruments of creation achieving a stroke impregnated with personality and temperament. Writing flows, is drawn and blurred, generating stories and intrigues that invite us to immerse ourselves in its traces and discover them, transferring them to our own autobiographical references.

Statement

Although I sometimes approach figuratively tangentially, my work never abandons abstraction, no matter if it is about giving life to organic forms or getting lost fascinated in an expressionist universe. My work integrates calligraphic elements in its most expressive and gestural side, that which does not seek the legibility of the text but the expressive aspects of the stroke. Calligraphy abandons its utilitarian function, and the text becomes an image, creating a mixture between painting and calligraphy.
