Erik Arenas

"My work is selfish in its genesis, it only tells of a method of salvation, a life jacket against addictions and moments of true darkness. I am only interested in what is inside, hence a certain dehumanization in the characters. Drawing on the representation of contemporary nihilism and the beauty of the grotesque, deformation, and the 'ugly.' Each work, to a greater or lesser degree, reflects my personal disturbance, a search for form and technique. If there are high expectations of transcendence, my painting has given me what it had to give, it has already served its purpose, to generate an escape route, from there, everything that comes is an addition."
