"Textures of Time" is a reflection on the passage of time, the fleeting nature of life, and the ephemeral quality of our existence. It is a contemplation on nostalgia. This is achieved through the depiction of women who sometimes feel real and at other times appear to exist solely in memory. It is also conveyed through objects that are part of that recollection, as they are household items and furniture that once belonged to my great-grandmother, grandmothers, and mother. The concept involves decontextualizing these objects to create a new visual narrative. I delve into the self, the individual, through portraits of my ancestors and the play of mirrors. These elements transport us to a dual world where the self relates to its own reflection. It is a realm where the subject or individual distinguishes themselves from their image and environment, in this case, to transport us to another place and time.
